I’ve been enjoying Alex Roddie’s ever-changing blogs and newsletters in their various forms over the past few years. This one is a particularly nice read: Kevin and his quest to visit every grid square in Scotland. I love the idea of people having their own under the radar adventure and keeping it to themselves—and in this case, making the most of what sounds like a very sad situation.

I wonder if he contributes to Geograph? I did for a few years. I used it as a motivator to come up with interesting walks based on visiting grid squares. It can become an obsession.

That was a great read, thanks for sharing it, Hopevalleypaul. I hadn’t come across that blog before, but the story stood out. There’s something quietly powerful about someone setting such a personal and long-term goal, especially in such a remote and rugged setting. It’s the kind of thing that reminds me how much there is to explore close to home, without the need for big crowds or recognition.
