Cutting a fine figure above the upper Lledr Valley and throwing down an obvious challenge to those travelling up Bwlch Gorddinan (the Crimea Pass), Allt Fawr has never enjoyed the popularity of its more illustrious Moelwyn neighbours. This apparent neglect may be explained in part by the erroneous assumption that it doesn't fit into a logical and satisfying circular route. Traditionally, the Moelwynion have been accessed from the North, West and South, but few are those that approach these hills from the East which, in my opinion, presents their wildest, most interesting and enigmatic aspect. An examination of the map confirms that several potential lines exist and those with a penchant for exploration will be rewarded with a superb walk into lonely, seldom trodden country.
Have the naughty motorbikers stopped trashing this area. I was disappointed by the mess they had made when doing these hill as part of completing the Welsh 2000' hills
