Hi folks,
am heading to Beddgelert on Friday for a couple of days and looking for a decent campsite.
I normally stay in Dolgam when in Wales, but fancy a change.
Just me, tent and could do with electric hook up.
Thanks, Den

In reply to Denni: Forestry Commission one on the road to Rhyd Ddu sounds like the answer.

In reply to Denni: Try the forestry commission site. It's run by the camping and caravanning club.

In reply to Denni: Try Tan ALdroch in Lledr valley between betws and dolwydellyn - run by friends of mine.Beautiful wooded site with the Afon Lledr running through it. You can have an open fire and they dont allow groups of noisy drunken knobbers on site. You wont regret it.

In reply to Denni: Rhyd Du is a top site in Beddgelert... the forestry commission one is awful (booked and paid in full) earlier this year and drove around the site and left straight away as the site was poorly maintained and over-crowded - not at all like their other forest sites in the forest of Dean.

That's a shame. The Forestry site was wonderful 20 years ago - A lovely old chap ran the whole site. Superbly looked after and a very friendly and welcoming campsite. Many happy memories including the tent being destroyed in a nasty storm in the middle of the night - my Dad and I had to bail out and sleep in the van. All very exciting when you're only 12.
The Rhyd Du site sounds great.

In reply to Denni:
The campsite's alright, but the cafe in Rhyd Ddu is absolutely cracking.

Aah, loved those wee adventures when all he'll breaks loose!

Cheers for the replies folks. Dave, will have a wee look at your mates site. Will not pester you this time for a brew but will be around your neck of the woods in Nov and Dec so hopefully we can catch up.

In reply to Denni: The Nant Gwynant site up the road issuperb. The showers are fantastic and they hire out fire pits. Its also on the waterside of the lake, plus it has its own crag with the classic Bowvine.
Five mins walk to Lockwoods Chimney.......do it at night in the rain!!!!
