Part of the Beinn Dearg range, but more often climbed as a single summit, Beinn Enaiglair combines easy access with fantastic views, its slightly detached position giving it a photogenic outlook over Strath More to the peaks of Fisherfield and Assynt. The hill is encircled by handy stalker's paths, allowing for various circuits and combinations; the one described here is a traverse using both the western and eastern ridges.
I noticed a couple of things. I understand the big layby/car park on the main road is okay to use for hill access. The signs are trying to stop people parking there for free and going across the busy (plenty of near-misses of both vehicles and people just wandering about) junction to the NTS visitor centre where cars are £5 and motorhomes £10.
The gate on the private road is often locked, hill access is directed to the other end of the car park where there is a little sign and the boggy path to the gate through the deer fence.
