Looking for a reasonably priced bunkhouse or other, for a bunch of  aged hillwalkers for a week in September, anywhere considered as long as it has hills to hike over. And a pub nearby.

We’ve been to Scotland, Lakes, Dales, Wales, and we like those areas. Not the Peak District, because we live there.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Plenty of options in the Lake district here https://www.lakelandcampingbarns.co.uk/

I have stayed at a few of these, facilities vary but location may be more important to you.

Been to the Beecon Beacons?

Have a look at the Star Bunkhouse in Bwlch, with very convenient pub.

I particularly enjoyed Scales Bunkhouse in Thelkeld for a Blencathra/Skiddaw trip a few years back. Fairly minimalist though.

I've used a fair few of these hostels in Scotland, and have yet to have a bad experience with any of them.  (The worst was ok, best was fantastic.)

If you're looking for suggestions of where to go though..  how about Knoydart?  (The walk in is optional, you can get the ferry.)  The Knoydart Foundation bunkhouse is superb, and of course the pub is now community owned and also rather excellent.

If you fancied a bit of a walk in (or out) but not the full slog, you might be able to walk along the Northern shore of Loch Morar and catch the ferry to Inverie from Tarbet instead of Mallaig.
