South of the Howgills, a small range of rounded hills draws the eye and the northbound traveller might even misidentifty them as the Howgills themselves. Further confusion arises because the highest point, Calf Top sounds so similar to The Calf. But these proto-Howgills are separated by the wide Rawthey valley and are quite distinct. It's also fair to say they draw the eye more than they draw boots, so seekers of solitude will enjoy these rolling ridges. Every few years, Calf Top enjoys a flicker of popularity when the latest survey nudges it a few inches over 2000’, but mostly you'll see skylarks and Rough Fell sheep, who remain unmoved by such metrological detail.

Hi Leon. Good spot. It should be working now. Computers are very clever but sometimes they mistake miles for kilometres. By contrast, my legs often mistake kilometres for miles.
