Good evening

I’m up in Inchnadamph this week and wondering about walking up Canisp.

I had a cracking day on Conival and Ben More Assynt on Sunday and have been to Sandwood Bay today.

I was going to go to either Ben Hope or Ben Klibreck for another Munro, but am a bit tired of the driving.

Given a good forecast for tomorrow, I may be keen to walk an easy ish Corbett with no death drops as a lot seem to have up here.

Is Canisp a better option than Quinag etc? I want a short day of 4-5 hours with less than an hours drive from Incanadamph.

Cheers

Dave

If it helps, Quinag has a better path.

Quinag is a more interesting hill than Canisp. But both are good days out.

If you do all three Corbetts on Quinag it's quite a big day out. Enjoy - weather forecast looks excellent!

Another vote for Quinag, 'that tall huddle of anvils'.

Thanks both

I will just be walking up Spidean Coineach, looking at the views, then back the same way to the road.
It’s been fantastic up here, never been higher than Ullapool before but I love it!

Cheers ,Dave and the rutting stags

Your photos are amazing streap, is it your job?

Thanks everyone for the Quinag suggestion.

I set off at 1630 and got to Spidean at 1745.

Back at the car for 1900. Wonderful red hues on the hills.

Those slabs are a pleasure to walk on!
The collie stayed at home as she is a bit weird.

She feigns a limp if something cheeses her off and a stay at home often resolves this. It has for now. I’m glad she didn’t come as it’s quite boulders and I didn’t have to worry if she wasn’t faking the limp.

What an amazing hill and only ten mins away.

Im so glad I didn’t drive to Ben Hope!

Cheers everyone !

 "is it your job?"

By no means, just a hobby.

Canisp is much better done from the West. It can be combined with a night in Suleag bothy.

Or alternatively combined (from the east) with Beinn Reidh to its north, allowing ascent by the west ridge and descent via the Red Route.

Thanks Kinley and root

Its like I’ve found a new country with a lot of new ambitions.

It makes it much easier and more relaxing if you go to an area and aren’t limited by just bagging Munro’s.

Im going to make my own wish list of hills to do based on their merits and proximity to my location.

When I’m back here, the rest of Quinag looks great too.

cheers
