With easy road access, a high start, and a vehicle track all the way to the top, Carn na h-Easgainn is a breeze. While heavy on the wind farms, the summit view is extensive, taking in Inverness, the Beauly Firth, and a wide sweep of surrounding hills. Nobody would call this an exciting walk, but it's definitely a worthwhile leg-stretch, whether you're bagging Grahams or just passing on the A9 with a couple of hours to kill.

4.73 miles, 7.62 km, 326m ascent, 2 – 2:30 hours. Inverness

I did a double take when i saw the hill name.   You are correct about it not being an exciting walk, and also correct that can be good for a ski tour.  Whereas the tracks fill in quick, they also get cleared for the windfarm.

It's a better outing (in my view) if you're willing to cycle, taking one of the entrances to the windfarm from the Garbole road (or using the tracks near Inverarnie to reduce time on the road), through the windfarm to the summit, then down the track of your route. Fine for a cx/gravel/hybrid bike.   Following general Wades road round the NE side of the hill is fine, apart from one boggy section.

Thanks, that sounds an interesting alternative for those with a bike

You can also approach from the bus stop near Tomatin where more tracks can be accessed. Opens up the possibility of a traverse back to Inverness using the old military road at the end almost entirely on paths (yes we have done this)

Not the most exciting but gets you up a hill etc.
