Evening

What condition are the Lakes hills in currently please?

I was planning a hill camp on Sunday but am wary of causing a fire. Are the becks still flowing high up?

thanks

Dave

Cheers Geez

I’ll do better than that. I will make some butties and eat them at home with some you tube on.

It’s almost not camping season anymore for me anyway.

Only 4 months until Autumn

thanks a lot

Dave

I wouldn't think that careful use of a camping stove by a sensible person used to the outdoors would be a risk to the Lake District hills. Surely there are ways of mitigating a stove's use so that  a wild fire is not likely to be a probable outcome

What on earth are you planning on doing that poses any significant fire risk

Given a recent episode with a gas canister being used inverted, anything could happen….

Hiwever, it was great.

The walk in was too hot but the sun soon dropped. There was water in the becks but not that much and we carried 5 litres up to be sure.

The ground was bone dry to the point you could walk on it in socks and not get damp.

Cooked on a large flat stone.

A bit warm for me really, but enjoyable in a different way to the autumn to spring camps.

We actually saw no one from 1800 last night to 1000 this morning at the car park which had 3 cars on it.

Bother this dry weather!

Next time I'm out flying a flame thrower drone https://throwflame.com/products/flamethrower-drone-kit/ over moorland beauty spots, minding my own business, inconveniencing nobody:  people will moan again. Always the same.

I should've gone for the full ticket and got a disposable BBQ drone, but that seemed just too insanely dangerous.

The becks are just about flowing but I got across Great Moss and Moasdale yesterday with dry feet. It's a huge tinderbox!
