Hi.

Thinking of taking a tent up via the southern spur by Coumshingaun lough. There's mention of a difficult bit just before exiting onto the plateau from the route. Described as anything from a "climb" to a scramble but little to be found to allow me to assess ease with a backpack etc.

Anyone here able to apply a uk scramble grade to it? Any photos would be appreciated.

As long as your route-finding isn't catastrophic I personally wouldn't give it a scrambling grade. It's a bit of a clamber, no more that that. Keep left on the ascent a smidge.

Good to know. Thanks.

A scramble would have been nice too.

I've done the loop in the other direction, coming down that way. Nothing bad sticks in my mind, walking poles would have helped but was fine anyway. As its a lot on soil, not sure what it would be like in the rain , how muddy and slippery it would be, it was a nice dry day for me.

Been there now. No difficulties. Not a scramble either though I'd say the option was there but rock mixed with thick heather.

The clear path is to the left of the ridge.
