How does Pinnacle Ridge on Garbh Bheinn as a summer scramble compare with the likes of Curved Ridge. Aonach Eagach and Pinnacle Ridge on Sgurr nan Gilean (ignoring the abseiling bits on SnG)?

I thought not that sustained, with one pronounced crux wall at mid-height. I thought quite different to the classics you mentioned.

In reply to kwoods:

Agreed, though I thought the crux wall significantly harder and more serious than anything on AE or CR (rope may be a good idea for that bit, depending on the team and the day)

I could believe that. Felt precarious! We soloed but I wouldn't argue with a rope.

Thanks (and to Dan). Can the crux be bypassed at all?

Phew, glad it wisnae just me Dan, that wee crux wall felt decidedly insecure and awkward. Pics of me and two pals on Pinnacle ridge on the Sunday, had hoped to do Great Ridge on the Saturday but it was too wet. Have done Great Ridge before....I won't be rushing back to do Pinnacle ridge, that wee crux section gave me the heebie jeebies.

P.S. Heavy rain commenced when we were on the summit of Garbh Beinn.

I'm not certain, but think possibly not

You can go round to the right from lower down and up some slabs (descended that way once as I didn't fancy descending the crux), but it doesn't feel very logical and it's not actually that much easier, just less steep.

Thanks - possibly not a route to be soloing! I may need to find a friend with a rope.
