Hello folks,

I am after a website where I can find some inspiration for ultras, run reports etc for the UK, with a GPX files. Similarly I am after a resource or database with ideas for wild camps, across multiple days, again with GPX.

I have other resources that I use but I am always struggling to find a site that has a lot of different ideas.  I am wondering if anyone out there knows of any other decent sites that I could use?  Lakes, Wales, Peaks preferred as I am Manchester based.

Yours hopefully,
Adam.

that’s the best list of long distance ultra routes in the UK, the site isn’t well optimised for mobile so often you have to scroll a long way down to get to the route details.

It doesn’t have gpx routes files.

This is ace, thank you much, lots of inspiration to be found here.

I signed up to the LDWA last night as well, 15 quid for the yearly membership but lots and lots of resources here.

thanks again for the response, have bookmarked the page.

Wild camps only work if they are not wildly published and see small numbers camping there and infrequently.  The point of wild camping is that they are not designated, you decide where you’re going to stop whilst out on the hills with a bit of pre planning as to likely good spots by looking at a map.

By contrast, I would be delighted if Strava & OutdoorActive would kindly f--- off and not take up screen space trying to offer me half-baked dumb ideas about where they think I might run and who's the "king" of what "segment" and wouldn't it be good to go straight up the side of some cliff because a Belgian did it on his gap year last week and narrowly failed to die.

Different sorts of joy. But as someone said above, "wild" camping only works if we make our own good and separate choices.

Here's some inspiration. Bivvy bag under a gorse bush on the South Downs in February. Single person tent on Beinn a Chaorinn (spelling) traversing from Glenmore to Braemar last summer tidying up some Munro summits. Discreetly off the top of High Street somewhere using public transport to get to Penrith and running down to Ambleside and back onto public transport.

Go well, have fun out there.

You could check out the UKH Route Cards. Also The Big Routes article series, which has been running well over a decade it seems (time flies):
