My daughter has just phoned me and she is planning a walk up Snowdon with her Boyfriend, and to say her navigation skills are lacking would be an understatement. Now I have never walked up Snowdon, but I have spent enough time in the Pass to know parking is a problem. So I have suggested that they park in Llanberis get the bus to the top of the pass, walk the Pyg track then down by the Railway ( I`m familiar with part of that track from going to Cloggy) back to Llanberis and the car. Any idea how long this would take and is a bad plan.
ps they will be walking on a Monday so I guess not quite as Busy.

I've done that route in less than 2 hours but I would say how fit they are is more important than navigation, as there isn't much to do. Maybe 4 hours if they are stopping for rests etc?

I would just say to be careful after the summit to find the Llanberis path rather than the Watkin path.

They are fit. I`ll pass on the tip about the Watkins path, ta.

Plan sounds fine - the paths are pretty obvious and even on a Monday there will be other people to follow unless the weather is awful.

Timing obviously depends on fitness level. A good runner would try to do this in under 90 minutes. An unfit person in flip-flops pushing a pushchair might take all day (and they regularly do!). 4-6 hours is probably a good average (not allowing for bus times).

This route sounds like about 10-12 miles, so I'd agree with Ron, allow 4-6 hours.

Cheers. They will walk quite fast, having a maniac Dad who took you up Lakeland fells every weekend for years must count for something.
Without starting a new thread can anyone suggest a nice reasonably priced place they could stop that is Dog friendly, within 20 minutes or so of the Pass.
