Hi my wife and I are looking a nice walking area, somewhere maybe in the canaries in feb

somewhere where the temp is around 20 in the day.

Was looking at Madeira but Pr1 is closed according to reports on social media

La Palma?

Have been to both La Gomera and La Palma, but found La Gomera uncomfortably hot to walk in December.  La Palma more interesting and higher so cooler.

Tenerife itself is good, hot by the coast but cooler higher up. Multi day options if that is what you fancy.

Although not as instantly appealing and spectacular as some of the other islands in the Canaries, Fuerteventura has more than enough interesting walking to occupy a week or two.

Stupid me, I thought you were going to ask which Munros in winter, when the weather has few clouds in the sky, gave good exposure to the sun, and lead to superb images and photographs of the hill/mountain environment, with less time in the murky shade. Where have you got great views, west for instance, enabling you to see to Mull or Skye? or ....

That's the winter sun, which I want to see, especially if there is a firm covering of snow, which is fairly supportive, adds a swathe of paintbrush strokes across the hills, and enables the winter plumaged Ptarmigan, and winter coated Hares to blend in with the environment far better. Am I living in a dream land these days, following the change in the regular environment and climate?

I will still dream anyway.

My parents did a winter sun walking holiday on El Hierro several years ago now, which Dad still talks about with great fondness.

They chose to do it the easy way through a travel company who managed accommodation and point-to-point baggage transfers for them (look for El Hierro on InnTravel to get an idea of the itinerary), but you could probably self-organise something very similar.

We went to La Gomera end-October for a family (kids are 12 and 14) holiday, including lots of walking.  I thought it was brilliant, hot (mid-twenties) at sea level, but mid-teens high up in the centre of the island.

Access is easy from Tenerife south airport. Bus to Los Cristianos and then ferry to La Gomera.  Once you're on the island there are buses, but it's much easier with a hire car
