Hi, six of us are looking for a bothie for Saturday and Sunday night, near at least two decent hills for Sunday and Monday. And we need to be able to get there from Edinburgh leaving at 16:00 on Saturday.
All reasonably fit guys in our thirties. Half of us fairly exprienced walkers/scramblers. Basially anything up to grade three scrambling (if dry, which it probably won't be) and eight hours.
Any recommedations for bothies and/or hills much appreciated.
(None of us are members of the bothie association but we plan to make a decent donation)
How about the Grey Corrie ridge?
You can use the bothy Lairig Leacach which is below Stob Ban.
If you fancy heading further North there's a decent bothy, Corryhully, near Glenfinnan where you can climb Sgurr Thuilm and Sgurr nan Coireachan.
Or the Cairngorms via the Corrour bothy in the Larig Ghru. Perfect for the Devils Point, Ben Macdui and other hills either side of the pass.
Please be aware of the bothy code. You should contact contact the owner if you are a party of six or more. Overcrowding at easily accessible bothies is a regular problem at the weekend. A bothy is never full but prepare to camp especially if you're arriving late.
didn't bothy in the end but thanks - plan to in future so will familiarise myself with code

In reply to edwardgrundy2: The Mountain Bothies Association ( MBA ) have a website with maps, http://www.mountainbothies.org.uk/bothy-code.asp
There is also a Facebook forum Mountain Bothies Scotland , where you can post questions/ receive advice .
There are several Bothy books available the most recent/ up to date I think,is the Bothy Bible, about £12 quid or £7 Kindle.
