I was driving down a wet country lane the other day, approaching the beautiful little village of Wentnor in the South Shropshire hills near Bishop's Castle.
As I came around a bend I was brought up by a possee of what appeared to be young rodents...about a dozen or so...gamboling about in the rain.
Surprised at their nonchalance with a big noisy diesel motor bearing down on them, I got out and wandered over. Most of them drifted away into the grass but a couple carried on playing in a field gateway.
These were so tame I could bend over and stroke one on the back. The little critter did turn his head and display a fine set of tiny razor like teeth but didn't bite.

Turns out I had stumbled upon a 'Boogle of weasels'...fantastic collective name! as is 'a confusion of weasels'.

You think of these creatures being secretive and loners. Not so it would appear ?

In reply to Jonno: Wow! I'm very jealous too, what an incredible thing to have seen.

I've seen wild weasels a few times and watched them exploring - sometimes they've come to within a few feet of me with no apparent concern - but they've always been single animals and I can't imagine being able to go up and stroke one!

Boogle is a brilliant collective name, and one I hadn't heard. I like 'a charm of goldfinches' and 'a bouquet of pheasant' (which I think is the name for when they've been flushed).

Lovely....what a find!

Saw a pair of hares boxing in a field a few weeks ago - no camera though.

A "sneak of weasels" is another term I've heard.

A Parliament of Owls. That would be more appropriate for weasels would it not?
In reply to DougG:

An Inn of weasels might be more appropriate...

I think you'll find Jonno is a regular writer for the Torygraph, and that Boanerges is his alter-ego...

In reply to Jonno: A 'flange of baboons' is a personal favourite.
