Starting to think about changing my car pretty soon and a mate recommended the Car People supermarket based in Ashton, Manchester. (They also have outlets in Sheffield and Wakefield.) Grateful to hear any comments, good or bad, from anyone who may have used them at any of their outlets but particularly Manchester. Cheers.

Not actually bought from them, but when I was looking for a car a couple of years ago I visited the Wakefiekd outlet. They didn't have what I wanted on display, but said they had one 'waiting for preparation'. They let me round the back, and it was an eye opener to see the state of some of the vehicles that were being prepped for the forecourt. It's propably true of every used car dealer, but some of the cars looked very battered and abused prior to being tarted up for sale.

No experience of car people, but I have bought from Motorpoint
http://www.motorpoint.co.uk . It was the easiest and best car buying experience ever. They give book price for part ex, with no questions asked and no hassle.

It might be a long way from Manchester - but Wilsden Autos in Bradford have a very good reputation locally. THey are well known for selling mint cars at a decent price.

Carbay in Royton did me a good deal.
I guess you've searched Autotrader online?
