Driving up to Scotland soon for Christmas Where is the best breakfast on the A82, probably extending as far down as Crianlarich. Will be stopping in Glencoe area so no point in telling me the best breakfast known to man exists in Fort William Thank you all

In reply to Southern Man: Yeah I've stopped there before, won't be repeating that one and that was only to use the toilets! Sadly the Real Food Cafe isn't open until midday but good call on that one.

In reply to on a far off mountain: minor detour but head left at Tarbet and go over the hill to Arrochar. There is <if it's still there?> a great greasy spoon style diner on the side of the loch as you drop into the village. Co:

If I really wanted breakfast I'd take a stove and make my own, there's not a lot in the area you describe. The Green Welly is like a motorway services cafe (immediate disappointment on seeing the undercooked bacon) and doesn't open until quite late. There is a wee shop immediately north of the Green Welly where you can get a cup of tea and a hot sausage roll and it opens much earlier, but I couldn't give you an exact time. Cough a lot when you go in as the shopkeeper tends to lurk in a back room somewhere.
I'm not sure if you can buy breakfast in the Kings House without staying?

Yeah the Pit Stop Diner in Arrochar is still there and it does awesome breakfast rolls, freshly cooked and served with a good coffee compared to the Green Welly which pre cook everything and put them in those crappy metal containers

Tattie scones are supposed to be fresh CRISPY not pull out a hot jar all soggy! Wrong wrong wrong.

You sure about that? I had breakfast there at the back of nine this July, and a fine breakfast it was to.

In reply to Milesy: Seconded not had breakfast there but it was the place that introduced me to the culinary magnificent that is cheesey chips: calorific heaven.
For a value fry-up you could try the pub called the Stonefield at Milton near Dumbarton, right on the A82: their £3.89 carvery is another good calory whack, all the veg and roasties you can eat, and they do a full Scottish for £2.99.
And - if the Pit Stop is shut there's a shack at the garage at Arrochar which is OL fopr a bacon roll.
