Last year, when I tried to get single trip cover from the BMC, it seemed that they would insure me but NOT for anything arising from the fact that I have blood pressure, albeit controlled with one dosage of medication. Just checked their "small print" this morning and found this:

https://www.thebmc.co.uk/modules/insurance/popups/MedicalDeclaration.aspx

Now seems that BP is an allowed condition so that I will be fully covered. Just to make sure do others agree with my interpretation?(I will obviously ring BMC on Monday)

Anyone else in a similar situation?

BMC quote is £40 cheaper than Snowcard.

HI there , I'm on medication for high blood pressure and have taken out single trip BMC insurance 3 times in the last 5 years. I contacted them each time just to ensure that I will be covered and they have said that it is not a problem as it is medically controlled.

Hope this is of use.

In reply to crimbo: Thanks. I was uncertain because I got the impression last year that I would not be covered even if I declared my pre-existing condition.

I'll ring them on Monday to make sure.

In reply to mypyrex: Well I use to have the BMC worldwide trek cover and then take out single trip extensions for expeditions. But it is now £284 for me & mrs for the Trek. Nationwide Travel policy you get FREE with a current account you can extend for £20 to be Worlwide and it provides virtually the same as the BMC
Worldwide including USA. Year unlimitted number of trips but max trip 31 days Nationwide only does Treks up to 5450m and no ropes. But it also has better levels of cover for quite a few items.
BMC has priced themselves out of the market for normal Yearly Travel Insurance.
