A friend found a dog that has a bit of climbing rope as a collar....

We found her in the middle of the road near Cromford on the B5012 just before the junction of Clatterway in a storm on Friday 15th March at 9.30pm.  She was very cold and wet. She is now quite perky, had a nice bath and a bit of a brush. Loves a little walk with our other two dogs. Our real hope is we can reunite her with her family but if not she will have a good home with us. She is not chipped and has no tag.  We really can't believe someone is not missing her as she is so lovely. We have spoken to the vets and if she is not claimed we will start the process of adopting her. For now we have called her "Betty".

You need to report it to the local dog warden. If you don’t, you will never be the legal owner of the dog.

Derbyshire Dales use

So this is who they should contact.

I do wish more people would take the trouble to chip their dogs, and give them a collar with a number on too.

If it’s not chipped then potentially the dog may also not have had it’s vaccinations or be neutered which maybe more problematic for your household.
