Just got up after a heavy night on the lash. Am checking emails, chuffed about the bargain i just got on ebay, then notice one of the emails is a 'monthly ebay invoice' for £7 quid!!!

WTF is that??? I do not use ebay that much really. I have recently sold one item and bought a couple but does that mean i should be charged by ebay???

Anyone help?

In reply to PSR:

It'll be the charges for the item you sold.

Yep, thats how they make so much money. You'll pay a listing fee, various other display charges and a final percentage fee based on what you sell. The invoice will itemise exactly what these are for what you have sold.

Then they will take the money off your credit card or bank account.

Wish I'd thought of it first.

no they are a public service and do not make a profit

ps.
to make sure you are not duped by a scam mail, do not click on any links in the email. just go online to ebay and log into your account.

In reply to PSR: Yes, this month mine was £179.80

I received one of these for the first time today as well, despite using eBay on and off for about five years.

I though it seemed a bit odd that they’ve suddenly started sending out invoices without notice. My total looks about right for my charges for the past month but as someone else advised, I’d be reluctant to click on any of the links.

Will do some research to try and prove its authenticity...

Ouch. Guess you must have made a bit though.

In reply to stuckonarock: Well, after thinking about it i guess it is right.
Am not gonna click on anything, think that got me into trouble in the past.

If it is genuine i guess the charge will simply be applied and thats that.

Panic over.

Still, i sold my ipod for £50+£4 postage, so £7 ebay fee seemed a bit steep.

In reply to PSR:

Reckon it’s genuine. My total is £24.42, which is spot on for the month. Can’t see how a spoof would be able to collect this information accurately for every registered user.

And it’s not insisting that you pay now or click on any of the links etc.

Think it might have been a good idea that they notified users before that started doing this though, given how much of a problem that have with spoof emails.

In reply to PSR: Unfortunately they've restructured their fees. They reduced the initial listing fees by 1/3 but increased final value fees by 2% on the first £29.99 and another 1% between £29.99 and £599.99

What this means is that when I sell one of my ex-fleet sea kayaks, I pay 5p less to list it and about £7 more for the final value fee, great business idea by them!

sounds high.

£2.15 or thereabouts for the final selling fee.
+ the insertion fee, which must be less than £1 in this case.

= £3.15 tops.

did you upgrade the listing using the gallery upgrades, insert it in multiple catagories, select bolding, add a subtitle, set a reserve fee or host lost of pictures of the item? - all costs money.

the breakdown should be visible if you log in to your account.

In reply to PSR: Yes, i'm a bit puzzled too with one for £97! Am still trying to get a breakdown of the 'items' as i only sold one thing?!
