I had 7 pints of Waggledance on Thursday evening and am sure I am still suffering .. is this possible or just pathetically psychosomatic?
 hutchm 21 May 2007
In reply to JimR:

It's possible. It's called alcohol poisoning. If I drank seven pints of Waggledance, I'd probably end up in A&E.
Simon22 21 May 2007
In reply to JimR:

If Waggledance is a beer and not some 40% spirit that I would say you are unbelieveably soft, or just plain ill.

In reply to JimR:

depends on you age

mine last 2 days now with the 2nd day being psychological rather then physical symptoms
In reply to JimR: from bitter experience (forgive the pun) a couple of days

you must be knackered then

trade yourself in

In reply to JimR:

in my experience one pint of Waggledance can cause a hangover on it's own. So obviously 7 pints will give you a 7 day hangover!

In reply to JimR:

The mistake you made was not having another 7 on Friday and so on.
 peterbull 21 May 2007
In reply to JimR: I can't see how you could have alcohol poisoning nearly four days after consuming it? I'd go with Simon22, nesh or ill!
OP JimR 21 May 2007
In reply to peterbull:

Would the 3 pints of vintage cider I had last night alleviate or enhance the symptoms?
 Reach>Talent 21 May 2007
In reply to JimR:
I've had 2 48 hour hangovers both times involved consuming over 1L of vodka. If you are still feeling rubbish you are either soft, alergic to alcohol or you've caught some horrific malady from a strumpet of dubious morals and you can only be cured by washing yourself in dettol.

In reply to JimR:

Are you going to tell us how much you also downed on Fri and Sat nights?

It's not possible, you're just being a fanny or are suffering from a yet to be diagnosed terminal illness.

Have you had any hallucinations?

In reply to JimR:
In the interests of Medical Research, I would suggest going and drinking another 7 and see if you still feel on on Friday. If so, QED waggledance gives a horrific hangover

In reply to JimR: whats a hangover?
 tommyzero 21 May 2007
In reply to JimR: I've had really mild alcohol poisoning and it lasted for days. It would come in waves. I've also got a virus of some kind at the moment which feels like a hangover. You could have caught something which is making you feel rough?
 peterbull 21 May 2007
In reply to tommyzero: You can't have alcohol poisoning for days. I suggest that you too on that occasion were being a bit nesh!

Random interesting fact - As you'll no doubt already know, being an enthusiastic sampler of the stuff, Waggledance is a honey beer and is named after the dance performed by bees when they return to the hive. This dance informs other bees about where they need to go to find honey.

Similarly, when staggering home, the drunken 'dance' of people who have drunk seven pints of the stuff serves to inform other drunks which pub they need to stumble to to slake their thirst for Waggledance.

In reply to JimR:

Of course it might not be a hangover.......could be your liver packing in........or cerebral microtumours responding to rehydration........or general effects of Hepatitis C........

Bit of positive reframing always helps.

In reply to JimR: Its age mate! I'm seriously experiencing the difference recently, now I'm getting out on the beer again after a while off it. Got seriously paranoid on sunday after remembering walking back to the camp site (sort of)on saturday night, but apparently we got a taxi. Something wrong there!!

In reply to peterbull: Why can't you have alcohol poioning for days?
 peterbull 21 May 2007
In reply to tommyzero: Because the body will process the alcohol and purge it from your body. If this took days then people would still be over the limit days after drinking. The bodies compensatory mechanism for acute alcohol poisoning is to pass out so you cant drink any more. Side effects of alcohol poisoning are respiratory depression, loss of gag reflex causing possible aspiration of vomit, possible hypothermia, hypoglycemia leading to seizures and severe dehydration from vomiting causing possible seizures, permanent brain damage, or death.

In reply to JimR:

Its very possible. If I have a 3 day binge then it may take 3 days to fully recover.

Dehydration, nausea & headache are ok. Blackouts are embarassing. Anxiety, depression, cold sweats, insomnia & nightmares are less fun. Have yet to reach DTs or hallucinations yet thankfully.

Every hangover is "the last one". Yeah right. Its called addiction, sometimes you're in control & sometimes you're not. Having no drinks is easy, having one or two sensibly is not.
