Morning all.

We need to remove a printer from our WiFi network as it is pushing us over our bandwidth limit, we think.

Anyway we cannot find any way to get rid of it. On the PC it was first installed on, it did give the option to uninstall it, but it is still on the network. I can still print wirelessly, but the first PC cannot. Can anyone offer any advice on what we need to do. It cannot be dragged over to the recycle bin either.
Thanks
M.

Log onto the router as admin and remove / block it?

Turn the printer off? Or turn the printer's wifi off?

However, if the problem is the amount of bandwidth you are using, it's unlikely to be your printer. I take it that your internet provider has told you that you're using too much bandwidth? And they provided the wifi access point? Traffic between computers and other peripherals on your wifi network shouldn't count towards your bandwidth usage - your bandwidth usage should only include webpages and other internet activity (eg, emailing or downloading music).

In reply to Mord: There is Wifi set up on the menu of my WiFi printer. I know that I can remove WiFi networks from there.

What is the make and model of the printer?

Since we installed this new printer, the broadband keeps dropping out. We are going to reset the router later on today to see what happens, but our provider, Orange, have not reported any problems. It could be that we are just in a bit of a crap spot for broadband, Sheffield!, but it is just dropping out all the time, and it is really since this new printer went on.

Thanks, all, for the info so far. We will see what happens.

Is it Broadband dropouts or Wifi network dropouts?

If you aren't sure then connect one of your machines to the router with an ethernet cable - this will rule out the Wifi connection. If you're still getting problems, get on to Orange and get them to test your line etc. Don't just take "no" for an answer either.

If it's the wireless connection that is an issue, then there are lots of things that could be causing you problems. First step is to reboot your router, as you've said you will be doing.
I know you said it started when you got the printer, but that may be a coincidence (as unlikely as that sounds).
But, for now, turn the printer off and see if you still have issues. If not then I would suggest the next most likely expalanation is that somebody close by has set up a router operating on the same channel as yours.
You can check what channels have strong signals being broadcast on them by using Net-stumbler and then try changing the channel you use to another one.

Lots of good guides on the web for how to troubleshoot wifi dropouts etc - if that's what it turns out to be.
