I keep getting emails off people in my address book asking me to click on a link as they are updating their address book and want my details. Haven't clicked on any yet as i'm a bit suspicious about ALL my friends doing this at once - is this some kind of spam thing or am I just being paranoid?

I've been getting the same thing. Haven't opened it either as it did seem a bit dodgy.

In reply to Ali: Have been getting a few of these myself and just ignore them pretty much... am not convinced that it's not some huge phishing scam at the moment, which is why I ignore them...

Think you do have to sign up - I've had quite a few, but still don't trust them with my details.

Yeah me too, I just delete them all, definitely SPAM, not a clue how they get hold of their details tho?

That's very kind of them to allow us not to join! I also like the bit that says they won't e-mail you (but they will e-mail your friend Iain 100 times) I've been getting about 5 a day recently from people I vaguely know and didn't belive to have me in their address books. Half of them find their way direct to the junk mail but half manage to sneak into my inbox!

Had a few like that, but not from my more frequent contacts, just people ive had 1-2 emails from. Just delete them.

In reply to Ali: so i was right to ignore this, got about 3 of them , on off someone i hadnt heard from in 4 years! so i ignored it.

Yeah, I had that until today when I got one from a Uni mate I e-mail fairly regularly, but I'm pretty sure he wouldn't use any crap like that.

you get very suspicious when you get the thing from someone you have never heard of...

In reply to Ali: I've just had another couple come through now - mostly from old contacts. They've been coming through to my old email account on my home computer too and my mum's started deleting them rather than sending them on!

Got one pretending to be from Barra (who I thought I'd blocked anyway), obviously not from him:

But it seems from some site called birthdayalarm.com (which does exist, another shitty pointless gimmick site.

You might want to edit the bit with barra's actual email address in it. I'd certainly be not v.pleased with you if you put my email address up on a public forum...

I've got an email from a friend asking to join, so I did. Basically you just share details and pictures, but only with those who are in your address book.
