I was recently pointed to the farmer's magazine program Landline owing to interests in aerial solutions to their vermin problem: https://iview.abc.net.au/show/landline

I was particularly impressed with the quality of information in the program and the focus on farmers' interests, the lack of fluffy creatures, and most of all with the interview with the Agriculture Minister Bridget McKenzie, who was well briefed, informative, and answered the actual questions with positive but clearly reality-weighted answers. As the interviewer commented afterwards, "she certainly talked the talk".

What do the land-based individuals on here think?

Like countryfile was 20 years ago, before they made it all fluffy and tried to embrace everybody. The BBC obsession, end specialist in depth programmes, just produce masses of low level remove brain before watching bilge.

Yes - chasing ratings rather than useful programs.

Towniefile is load of fairytale nonsense for an urban audience that thinks the countryside is a playground they are free to trample over at their leisure, not a workplace or home that needs to be respected.

I’ll give the Aussie one a watch later, it can’t be any worse.

Or over paid z lost celebs doing just about anything, with revenue creating phone lines to show your 'support' for them.

Here north of the border we have Landward, worth a watch via iPlayer if you're elsewhere in the UK. (The sister podcast Scotland Outdoors is also worth a listen).

Still a bit fluffy at times, but not as bad as Countryfile. (No Ellie Harrison or Helen Skelton, but you do get the lovely Island lass Anne Lyndon).

Please please PLEASE can we have something other than the fluffy calendar, no matter how good the cause is.

I used to record it so I could fast forward but I've just stopped watching recently; too many Newsnight brexit disastrophies to laugh and shout at.
