Thanks Rob. I heard about this plug from the esteemed Roger Webb over tea yesterday. Excellent idea.
I'm one of Rob's wife's consultant colleagues in the O&G Dept at Raigmore, having also moved here for the mountains, in my case in 2018. I can vouch for the fact that, in terms of culture among front-line staff, Raigmore is the friendliest and most across-specialities collegiate hospital I have ever worked in, with some of the warmest, friendliest midwives too. And, of course, nowhere could be better to live if you're at all outdoorsy. Re housing, money goes a lot further here than in the Central Belt. And my friends with kids tell me the schools are good too.
For any O&G consultants (or almost-consultants) reading, a key attraction of the job is the opportunity to regularly operate robotically - and indeed to have your robotic training fast-tracked (can be done in 2-3 months) if you're not already trained. We're one of the few Scottish units with regular benign as well as malignant robotic gynaecological operating. I'm temporarily the only gynaecological robotic operator.
If you'd like to chat, look me up on in the NHS email directory: Adam Archibald.
