Alright all,

Had a bit of a search but nothing came up. My o/h has some unused shoes that have been floating about the house for ages. There's nothing wrong with them - they've just never really been used as they were bought and then decided didn't like/actually wrong size. Crunch time has come; They've gotta go and she's looking for a good cause to give them to.  A while ago there was a thread with someone giving shoes to a climbing wall in Africa or similar  - just wondering if anyone knows of a similar thing that's current?

Are they climbing shoes? Or 'normal' shoes? (Your post isn't clear.)

If they are Outdoor shoes/boots then Kitsquad.co.uk (Charity nr Shrewsbury) will take them, thank you.

Kitsquad recieves donations of outdoor gear and equipment and gifts them to those on means tested benefits that wish to get themselves and their families into the outdoors.

Ah yes, that isn't entirely clear. It's climbing shoes.

I'll let her know, thank you for that. That's exactly the sort of thing she's looking for

Thanks. You could always sell them on here, and then donate the money raised to a charity of your choice.

I knew that we sent our Climbing donations onto someone,

The Chalk Climbing project in Cornwall

Vertigirls in Brighton

boulderbarnclimbing.co.uk in Hereford

commonwheel.org.uk

Stick them on eBay/Facebook Marketplace and donate the proceeds to charity.

You can also send them to the Alpkit Continuum Project who pass gear on to charities to use

https://alpkit.com/pages/continuum

If you live near a store you can drop them off (Outside in Hathersage have a similar scheme but I think you're in the SW so maybe not relevant?)

Actually I just remembered that the BMC has a very useful list of all the organisations that reuse or recycle old gear

https://thebmc.co.uk/en/bmc-old-gear-directory

Yeah selling was considered but the shoes are worth more to someone who needs and will actually use them, than to someone with disposable income who gets cheap shoes and then someone who really needs them ends up having shoes bought for them. Might as well cut the middle man out and just give them to the needy one and give best value.
