Sparkling wine tops

Got given a dozen of these and I have 3 gallons of elderflower nearly ready to bottle. I normal use plastic soda water bottles and before drinking a chill in the freezer then decant into a jug leaving the sediment behind.
These tops neared to be used with a wire cage. As I understand, the usual method to remove the sediment (degorging) is to, over a period of time, up-end the bottle and get the sediment to fall so it sits in the cork. You then freeze the neck of the bottle, take off the cage, take out the plastic cork, a ‘plug’ of slushy sediment will pop out, you then upright the bottle, top up with wine, insert plastic cork and wire cage it. BUT: these snazzy corks appear to have some form of sediment trap built in. You can see some thread - when you pull it I can feel a mechanism move inside the cork.
Anyone have any ideas how to use them?
