Strange but true
Terry Nutkins and his sidekick sea-lion Gemini
(whom he had nurtured from a pup) were regular
guests on TV's Animal Magic.
He drove Gemini to the studio every week
in his Landrover, and was in the habit of
winding the passenger window down, and Gemini
would stick his head out, dog style.
However, on one trip Nutkins wound the window down a
little too low, resulting in Gemini launching himself
out of the Landrover into the busy middle lane of the
motorway... and meeting a grisly end.
Not wanting to distress younger viewers with such a
gruesome story, Nutkins decided to stage a mock
return to the wild: he went to a remote seal-filled
beach, and filmed a similar-looking animal waddling
into the sea, while he stood and waved goodbye and
wished him luck
