Oh Dear. What a complete tw*t he made of himself.

The only other time I've seen something like that was the Cruyff penalty, when he played in a club game for Ajax. He passed it sideways to Neeskins, who passed it back to Cruyff, who then slotted it home. Class.

Unfortunately for Pires he made a right mess of it and just looked like a arse.

Arrogance can look great when it comes off(like Cruyff), but when it goes wrong.....hmmmm, not sure Pires will be trying that one again.

It was Jesper Olsen actually, not Neeskens. That was the penalty they were trying to recreate yesterday only Pires's leg "went numb" according to Henri.

In reply to Alan James - UKC: Aye, you're right Alan, it was Olsen.

Takes a lot of bottle to attempt it, and it looks fantastic when it comes off. It looks a wee bit less than fantastic when it goes wrong though.

Dear wc

It take arrogance to do it, it also helps, if one is really skilful rather than hyped up.

Aye... but more importantly, what did you think of the draw today.....Could it kick start our season ger think ?
Apparently we should have had another pen when Terry handled.

At least Liverpool are still s**t !

Dear Jonno

It was clear penalty for me.

In reply to Norrie Muir: I have also met him and he is very tall. However i did not have a clue who he was and refused to let him in - to Preston North End FC.

Well he was trying to get in the players entrance and he wasn't a player - he was too old.

He's got quite a temper too !!

In reply to wcdave: The thing is the French git shouldn't of been on the pitch to take a pen. Booked for punching Danny Mills. Anyone in a blue shirt and it would of been red.
 TRJ 24 Oct 2005
In reply to wcdave: If it had worked, the press would no doubt be celebrating Pires' Gallic genius this morning. Apparently the whole idea was Henry's, anyway, according to his MotD interview.

Oh please, enough of the persecution complex, just accept that you're team are crap.

He should've be given a medal for punching that thug..........

Aaaah, nice to have you back Craig.

In reply to Craig_M: errr, explain exactly why they are crap please? Also where in the rules raising your hand/punching an opponent is violent conduct and therefore a red card offence.

I'm not complaining about the penalties or our dissallowed goal. I thought they were all good decisions.

But that's persecution complex for you I suppose.
Craig_M 24 Oct 2005
In reply to Alvesy:

They're crap because they're not Arsenal, obviously. To be honest, I haven't seen the incident, so you may well be correct that he should have been sent off. However, I don't think I've ever heard of a game of football where everyone is entirely happy with every decision the officials make, so you just have to take comfort in the fact that sometimes decisions go for you and sometimes they go against you.
As for the persecution complex, I thought they were handed out to everyone as they go through the turnstiles into the home stands at Man City?
Iain Ridgway 24 Oct 2005
In reply to Alvesy: But look at Rooney's "punch" on Ben Haim last season. Seems the FA, and refs, decide guilt before even thinking.
Alvesy 24 Oct 2005
In reply to Craig_M: Get with the program, Craig. Our new council house doesn't have turnstiles as such. It has an access card entry system so there is no old geezer ruipping your ticket stub and pressing the foot pedal to let you through anymore. It's a disgrace.
Alvesy 24 Oct 2005
In reply to Iain Ridgway: Hello iain. Some folk on here seem to be under the impression that I suffer from Bitterus Blueus. It simply is not true.

Craig_M 24 Oct 2005
In reply to Alvesy:

Of course, you've gone all hi-tech now haven't you? Does that mean the persecution complex is now chip-and-pin?
Alvesy 24 Oct 2005
In reply to Craig_M: Nah, chip on shoulder

"Some people say I'm pedantic, I prefer to think of myself as being at the front line in The War on Error."
There's no room for complacency in the War on Error.
