Hi all,

Have a PC at home connected to 32" TV mounted on the wall.

As the brother-in-law is currently around the world, we want to Skype with him when we can.

So purchased a £10 webcam with built in mic, which when we used didn't give a great picture and the mic wasn't great - I'm guessing this is because it's designed to be sat on top of a PC or laptop, with the user being no more than a foot away.

So, I'm looking for a decent webcam (ideally with built in mic) that can be mounted on top of the TV and pickup sound in the living room, as well as a reasonable picture.

My final caveat, not costing the earth.

Am I expecting too much, or is there anything out there?

Thanks in advance UKC massive!

In reply to MtnGeekUK: I might be wildly wrong here, But I thought you could use home-video recorder and hook it up to your pc. After all thats all a webcam is.

Yeah, I would go for using a home video camera or even a still camera connected via USB. Quality is much improved on webcams
