Pretty bad, but I've come to think that a ball moving across the player at speed is actually quite hard to hit. Most 'bad' misses are of this type. I'd be interested to understand what's actually going on in perceptual terms, but it must be something to do with movement across our field of vision being harder to make calculations about than a ball coming at us from the front, where it's easier to estimate speed from our depth perception. Any psychologists around?
