I've been using a Canon D5 for a few years, I normally save my photo's as a RAW image and a jpeg one. These I download into Photoshop elements (2020 version) with no problems.

Recently I've got a new Canon R6, when I come to download the images into Photoshop it only downloads the jpeg version not the RAW image. I'm a bit flumucked by this anyone have any ideas as to what I need to put this right?

I had to set my Panasonic to take both RAW and jpeg images on every shot; have you done this?

PS or is only the downloading the problem?

There is info about the Canon R6 RAW files and PSE 2020, eg -

"Yes, Photoshop Elements 2020 can generally read Canon R6 RAW files (CR3 format). However, you may need to ensure your Camera Raw plug-in is updated to a version that supports the R6's specific CR3 format. "

It's the downloading that's the problem. It seems my version of PS elements will only accept CR2 not CR3 which the R6 is using.

That’s most likely the issue. I’m assuming PS Elements is a fair age? I had to upgrade my Capture 1 Pro when I went from CR2 to CR3 files.

Hi, i use canon 80D and shoot same as you RAW and JPEG.  i had same problem and what I found is that I didnt have enough room on my laptop to download both as RAW takes up a lot more space.  i cleared some photos to storage and that solved the issue.

You could also try downloading the Adobe DNG Converter and see if converting your RAW files to DNG format allows your version of Photoshop to work with them.
