Team member – Full time

This fantastic role involves engaging proactively with our customers and maintaining good climbing practice in the centre. This role would suit someone who shares our values – making climbing accessible to all abilities and keeping the community at the heart of everything we do.

The ideal candidate will suit a dynamic and varied working style. If becoming a ‘jack of all trades and a master of everything’ whilst always maintaining enthusiastic and friendly approach is for you, then look no further than a team member role at Boulder Shack!

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Provide great friendly customer service; in person, by phone and through email/social media.
  • Work with the duty manager and other team members to ensure the smooth running of the climbing centre and business.
  • To work efficiently on reception, in our café, dealing with customer bookings and general administration.
  • To deliver engaging climbing sessions to a broad range of junior/adult customers
  • To be proactive in dealing with cleaning, Health & Safety, maintenance and other vital centre duties.
  • May be required to work across multiple sites.

Essential skills

  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • To have a positive approach to dealing with customers
  • The willingness to embrace problem solving in a proactive way.
  • Competent computer skills

Desirable skills

  • First Aid qualifications/experience in dealing with first aid
  • Personal climbing experience
  • Instructing and Coaching experience with juniors and adults

Essential Qualifications

  • The right person doesn’t need any qualifications but the below are still desirable.

Desired Qualifications

       -      RCI

       -      CWI

       -      Foundation coach training or assessment

       -      D1 license

       -     First aid certification

Hours, pay and perks

  • 40 hours per week contract
  • Shifts will include daytime, evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays
  • Will be contracted to work a minimum of 5 weekend days per month
  • 30 minute paid break per day
  • £250 per year to be paid towards non work related training/qualifications of your choice!
  • Up to 28 days’ holiday per year
  • Free unlimited tea, coffee, climbing and laughs. 

Pay Rates from January 2019.

18 – 20 years £6.31

21 – 24 years £7.76

25+ years £8.28

Finance/HR administrator in a climbing centre

Boulder Shack is looking for a proactive Finance and HR administrator. The organisation has grown over the last few years and continues to grow, the business requires a skilled individual to focus on the Financial and HR needs. This will include working along side our management team to keep the business driving forward by managing budgets, sales/Invoicing, employee progression and training. A successful candidate would have an attention to detail in all financial matters, proactively driving employee progression and a high performance in people skills.

Responsible for:

Overseeing the HR function and processes, salary monitoring and administration. Leading and managing the absence management procedures including attendance and sickness process. Leading staff CPD support and monitoring of staff performance.

Overseeing Finance of the business including Payroll processes and undertaking administrative and financial organisational processes. Provide monthly analysis reports to contribute to the planning, development and monitoring financial management.
