I was soloing and bouldering at Ilkley the other saturday as i usually do 1nce or 2wice a week when these guys one called chris ithink asked if i would mind trying to get there friend, cam that is not a human friend, out which they had got stuck in the bottom of 'S-Crack'!! I aggreed and set to work...i climbed up stuck some of my gear in,attached meself to it and began jiggling 'n' wiggling this cam until half a bloody hour later it came free! the kind guys then said i could keep it! then later on they were attempting 'Josephine' (VS 4c) i think on a lead and the first guy fell of near the top!! he came down. the next guy climbed up and attempted what the other man had failed. he also failed!! they offered me a go..i couldn't refuse!! i climbed up to the point where they had fallen off and carried on lead climbing it until i reached the top!!! i was extemely chuffed...and they were pretty annoyed! the first guy then got belayed up by me and made it!! i may point out that my age is....... 14 only!!!!!! think now. end.

And your mental age is evidently some way below that.

A touching story I am sure but perhaps not as special as you might think.

Come on Fiend, are you really that jaded, don't you remember your own discovery of climbing and the pleasure of burning someone off? The lad is to be commended on his ability to post in English and not text-speak if nothing else.

In reply to Laurie Rogerson:
Well done, we need more young trad leaders so stuff bouldering and get up to Cumbria. Keep up your enthusiasm and ignore the previous pathetic remarks.

In reply to Mr Pink II:

Well done laurie. If I'd done something like that at your age, I'd want to tell the whole world too. mbh (39 11/12 years old)

ps txt englsh is a wonderful new tool. Just leaving out the vowels gives a whole new range of ambiguities to consider and play with. I think it's great.

Well done you, and ignore the supposed grown-ups with their cutting put downs.

Fiend: I am cyber biffing you <biff, biff, biff>
The way Laurie feels is the way anyone would feel if that had happened to them at that age.
One of the touching things about youth is articulating feelings... you get older and you learn to not express yourself....
This may be socially necessary, but also regrettable, and myself I like a bit of honest feeling.
So belt up chucklet, you're just showing your own tender age
(he he he he....yes, the irony is not lost on me, before u all point it out)

I don't know why, but that made me laugh till I cried.

In reply to Laurie Rogerson: Remember me, I was soloing around on that day as well, good effort on the VS, I'd gone by that stage, but I think your best achievement was the very confident solo earlier on of the V diff on the left entrance to the quarry, in very fine style. It's nice to see a young'un out there doing it, rather than top roping everything. Good luck and keep the good work up.

Did you write your own profile? Thrill of climbing, fun, alive and friendly...

Well you blew a golden opportunity here, didn't you Mr Fiend?
Here we have a 14 year old mad keen on climbing, with, like all youngsters, a questing mind, open to all the world has to offer. Surely, here, at last, you might have found someone who, knowing no better, would have accepted your preposterous E0 grade. But your opportunity has passed, methinks.

(I thought the original post was a troll, but no-one else does, and I'm of weak moral fibre, so I don't either any more)

Who were you exactly? i will remember if you tell me your rock shoe model and colour.

In reply to Laurie Rogerson:
If you wrote without any spelling mistakes at all, the ones you did are minor any way fiend would have nothing to complain at. He is a tiresome E0 git with no knowledge of the joys of succeeding on a climb when others fail.

Enjoy your climbing, if you get to Almscliff tommorrow or Sunday you will find a lot more bumblies to take up climbs, lots from this site. come and join them.
