Hi I'm an artist who specialises in paintings of climbers and climbers in their favourite enviroments. I have posted a couple of paintings on www.deviantart.com under the username "cragratart". I would appreciate some comments from people who climb before I make the big step of trying to do this full time. Thanks.

I come away from them a little conflicted. As a climber I feel the 'urgency' going on in the picture, I really like that. Then I step back and they look a little simple (whilst still keeping the urgency/speed). I hope that makes sense.

short version is, I like them you have a great style I don't think I've seen elsewhere.

I quite like the Seamstress picture but the bouldering one is very 2D with no depth (as you say, more pop art really) which doesn't appeal to me really.

I don't like either of them. I don't like the flat light in the first one and don't like the conflicting style of the second.

I don't think you should listen to my opinions though. You don't need the majority of people to like it, you need a few people to really like it if they are going to buy it.

Why do you need to go full time? Just paint a few pictures in your spare time, set up a market stall or website and see if you sell any.

If you are selling enough so you don't have the time to do it in your spare time then throw in the job.
