Can anyone tell me if using a double fishermans knot is the best way to make my own sling from tape. I obviously use them when using rope, but was wondering if because of the shape of the tape it made any odds. Or does anyone use another knot all together?

In reply to Marts: beleive there is a specific knot for this practice and don,t quote me but may be a tape knot but never tried / used it myself.
definately a specific knot tho hope this helps

In reply to jas wood: Cheers mate, glad you cleared that up for me. I've found it and it is the easiest knot I've come across. Doesn't sound very secure on paper but just completed it and it is a gem.

In reply to Marts:

Longish tails rqd, as I have heard tales ;} of slippage. Particularly with dyneema.

In reply to noxious: Don't use the tape knot with dyneema tape, the material too slippery. Dyneema cord can be tied in to slings with a triple fishermans.

In reply to Martin W:

When you tie a Tape knot/Ring Bend in nylon webbing you should leave about 2 inches tail and you should load the knot to tighten it up.

There are lots of good knots sites on the net.

In reply to Martin W:

Stand corrected. Heard it was slippery didn't know it was 'too' slippery.
Probably why you can't buy it unless it is loop-sewn, (can you?)

In reply to Marts:

Tie it with a water knot / tape knot.
Load it.
Sew the tails.

In reply to nz Cragrat:

http://ozultimate.com recommend 8" tails. That's a hell of a tail!
