Hi,

I came off my bike last Monday and landed prety hard on my wrist, didnt noticethe pain for a while cause i was hyped on adrenalin from a scufle with somekiddies who robedmy bike straight after. Wen i got home i was in a lot of pain, had no ROM and it swole up big. i left it a few hours but the pain became unbarable, n my mate convinced me to hospital.
Done that, no breaks. they gave me a splint and told me rest and ibuprofen.
I'm off to font satrday, so i got straight online looin up ways to speed up healin. hav been doin hot/cold treatment 3 times a day - 1 minute ice water, 4 minutes hot water, repeat 4 times (20minutes) takin ibuprofen, and wearin the splint. ova the last week the pains gone from stopin me sleepin to a small pain along the the thum side of my hand and the wrist beneath it.
Im still doin all the same stuff, but was wonderin if anyone knos anything that mite speed up the healin? idealy aiming to be able to climb sunday

In reply to Tyco: Sounds like you are doing all the right things. Is your wrist or hand still swollen? If so, then you may not be able to climb. Your body is the best guide. Start by gentle stretches of your hand. If it hurts, don't climb. When you can twist your wrist, bend it back and forwards without pain, try some gentle strength exercises with small weights, therabands, theraputty etc. Theraputty is great in helping recover from these type of injuries as it allows you to do lots of exercise on your hand without stressing your hand too much. You can even exercise individual fingers or your thumb using it. It comes in different stengths (colour coded usually as yellow, red, green and blue) and you keep it in the fridge to keep it firm. When you think you are ready, progress to easy climbing on big holds (traverses etc). If it hurts stop. You don't want to turn a minor injury into a chronic one. Good luck.
