Can anyone tell me which Frank Zappa album the theme music came from on Stone Monkey when Johnny Dawes climbs The Quarryman? It's been bugging me for ages now and various searches have ended in failure. Please help!
Thanks..............Andy.

"Sheik Yerbouti" I think, but I've got it at home so if no one's confirmed this by tomorrow, I will.

Also,
Does anyone know the intro. music used on 'The Real Thing'?
adam 15 Mar 2001
marmion is the band, schonberg is the song!
OP Neil 15 Mar 2001
Damn right, though I think its spelt Schoneberg - best intro. tune to any climbing video ever!

If you wanna get hold of it though, make sure you get Marmion's 'Original Remix', since this is the EXACT SAME TUNE as on the vid. - all other versions don't have the same atmospheric start, and are usually too short. The Original Remix lasts a quite satisfying nine and a half minutes! Try Napster before it goes under.

Ta ta, Neil.

thanks Adam and Neil,

My mate did a cheesy recording straight off the video and we exported it to Spain for inspirational encouragement at the base of pump-fest routes.

I dont get Napster access for another month yet but will try.

If you play the game, you will get burned!

Maybe you should stay with your mama.

Apparently the music got changed on one version of the film.
My version has the above plus Lloyd Cole, Talking Heads etc. Which version is this and what music is on the other one?
pete 15 Mar 2001
Another quality tune off the Real Thing is the one from the School Room.

>>>Which version is this and what music is on the other one?

You are the lucky winner of the *original* version. Apparently a lot (all?) of the music was included without sorting out the copyright, and once EMI (or whoever) heard about this they got it taken off pronto. I had the misfortune of seeing the subsequent version once - bunch of @rse or what! The music really makes the film for me - for a while I could never hear Lloyd Cole without feeling a strange compulsion to climb up motorway flyovers...

big thanks to ADAM !!!

Schoneberg is banging out right now over the office here in Barcelona as we mentally prepare ourselves for another hard weekends worth.

I have it on mp3 but not on this computer unfortunately.
I managed to get it off Napster if you have access, it could still be there.

Does anybody know if you can get stone monkey with the original sound track?
The ones in the shops all have a new soundtrack that spoils the whole experiance.

In reply to Nic:

In reply to Andy: i was lucky enough to spend the evening with Gail Zappa the other night and have permission to use Yo Mama off Sheik Yerbouti which you can now buy from my site www.johnnydawes.com. it's good to be enjoying Jude while composing. must drive home now really fast. will tell you about it later.

In reply to johnny dawes: Gail? I thought all Frank's children had "unusual" names, like Moon and Dweezil?

In reply to BrianT: Gail's his wife stoopid!
