Theres a farm in Shap, down towards the Greyhound pub, but on the other side of the road that often has tents pitched on the front.
Theres another field after you take the Bampton turning, as the road swings 90, with the Shap Abbey turn-off that has campsite signs, memory is that its a C&C one.
Then a bit further along that road, before it drops down off the hill into Bampton, theres another farmhouse that has had signs for seasonal pop-up campsite, the last few years.
They're the closest ones that I'm aware of.
Kings Arms might do camping, but im not 100% on that. Just a faint memory of seeing it on the sign out the front.
None in Swindale, I've just got back from a run there. Nothing in Haweswater except the hotel. Fairly sure the farm at the bottom of Wet Sleddale doesn't do any, only thing up wet sleddale is a private residence. So going over the top from an adjacent valley is ruled out too.
There's Crossfells campsite just outside Penrith, has tents and hardstanding pitches.
Moor House Farm, near Orton does summer campsite too.
