Hi Chaddy, I'd recommend doing a beginners course at a local climbing wall where you will learn to use some basic climbing equipment and a correct knot. Once you can belay you will find it much easier to find partners and there are always lots of other beginners you will be able to team up with (again a local climbing will usually have one night a week where partnerless climbers can pair up together).
As has been said already fill in your profile even if there isn't any climbing experience yet it's nice to know an approximate age and other interests.
Also this site has users all over the uk (infact all over the world) so a potential climber would need to know where you're based or where your willing to climb.
