Daughter is off to San Diego next month on a student exchange thing. Climbing mad, mostly indoors but likely to hike potentially outdoor sport or trad with a guide. Snowcard say their insurance isn't suitable. BMC says their quote for multi annual.at 90 days per stay doesn't cover US.  Anyone here got any ideas please?.She will have health insurance through the uni but pretty sure this won't cover hazardous sports.... thanks in advance!

I have no idea, but I suspect if she is resident she may be able to buy insurance from a US provider?

I don't know about the US but when I did a working holiday visa in Canada I used True Traveller. Obviously select the right level for your activities. I was climbing and snowboarding. I'm pretty sure having insurance was a key condition of my visa, and besides you might want cover for repatriation in the worst case anyway.

I suggest that you check the actual detail of that first.

Yes, I think you'll find that the uni insurance does.

Assuming she has general healthcare covered then American alpine club “leader” level membership for $250 covers search and rescue and the deductible of your health insurance.

I concur with RedJerry - there were no dangerous sports exceptions in the health insurance in Colorado - reason being that everyone skis
