Experiences with Trabuco Terra 2??

Hi - I'm wondering if anyone here has experience with the Asics Trabuco Terra 2?

I'm asking as I'm on the lookout for a relatively light trail running show that is nevertheless durable. My typical problem is that I end up tearing the toe box of my trail shoes very quickly as I run very rocky and technical terrain. However, I also keep hearing that the Trabuco Terra 2 is a beginner's shoe, so I'm not sure that it's the right shoe for me.

I'm grateful for any advice.

For robust uppers, look at VJ Sports from Finland. They started in orienteering where shoes have to be very durable, but also too a decent range of trail shoes :-

iRock - fell shoe, minimal cushioning
XTRM 2 - mountain shoe
Lightspeed - lightweight trail racer
Maxx 2 - trail shoe
Ultra 2 - ultra shoe

Depending on how much cushioning you want, the XTRM or the Maxx might be suitable

In reply to NorwegianSouthAfricanTrailRunner: Are you mixing up Trabuco and Trabuco terras? The former is a 'beginner' shoe. How durable it will be depends on how well it fits you.  Have you tried a Nnormal on? Is it possible to go to a shop as buying shoes like this online is a pretty painful process

What shoes do you normally wear and, apart from durability, do you like them? If not what else didn't you like about them?

I have Asics Trabuco (11 I think) but they don't get used much as I find them too bulky and stiff. Durability is good, have done about 240 miles in them so far (mud, tree roots, gravel, road, chalk, sand, but not a lot of rock really) and they look new still. I have other ASICS shoes too (all done around 300 miles each and I'm still using them) and never had durability issues if that helps?

Probably depends a bit on your running style and how well they fit your feet as well as the terrain.
