Rockboot sole damage

I bought my first pair of boots, Red Chilli Sausalito's, about 3 months ago. I use them indoor and out, around 2-3 times per week.

I took my boots out of my bag this evening, to discover a small slice in the sole near the toe. It's deep enough and wide enough to be able to see the white stuff inside.

I can't understand how this has happened, as I only did three climbs today, all with the same starting point, and being lowered down. Could this have happened just from climbing?

Does this mean I need new boots or to get them resoled or something?

Finally, a question about the Sausalito, I sometimes feel like the edge of the boot around the sides and at the toe isn't sharp enough to stand on really small ledges, is this just me expecting too much? Or is it a known fact of this particular boot?

Thanks for any advice!
