The bouldering wall (400m2 ish) is now complete and ready to be set. Ian Vickers, Jamie Cassidy (aka Butch), Jason Pickles and others have offered their services to set.
The 23.5m ‘Tall Wall’ area is now complete and the scaffolding is due to be taken down this week. There’s a certain ‘WOW’ factor that we’re anticipating when we can finally see the full area cleared! This area is all high vertical routes with nine lines at 23.5m, six at 19m and six at 14m (three routes on each line).
The steel in the main area is now been erected and the panelling should start this week. 24 of these lines will be 13.5m and 8 will be a respectable 12m.
Once these walls are completed we can erect the free-standing ‘Fin’ this will be a top-roping feature with routes of 6, 8 and 10m on featured climbing surface with tuffas, flakes, cracks, arêtes, chimney, pockets, jugs, crimps (get the picture yet?). This will be topped off with a belay/abseil station on top.
At the moment I don’t want to put a definite date on the opening but it’s still looking very likely for December 07.
The new membership scheme that we’ve just introduced will allow members to use both centres. The loyalty scheme also works for both centres. If you would like to save a bit of time when you come to use us please download the relevant form from are website http://www.awesomewalls.co.uk and fill it in prior to coming.
Thanks for showing an interest in our new climbing centre.
