So..Skye...I like the look of that nice VDiff..is there plenty of easy-ish stuff to do?

Stacks - from exposed scrambles, to easier routes (often very long ones) and right up through the grades.

Skye is a mind-blowing place, for all sorts of reasons.

Loads of classic low-grade stuff, Clach Glas-Blaven traverse is a long Diff. There's the Dubhs ridge as well. Very long scramble.

On Sron na Ciche there's stuff like Integrity, Cioch Direct, as well as Arrow Route (pictured in Chris's link).

Then there's Whispering Wall in Coire a'Mhadaidh, a VDiff with a great pedigree, it was put up by Patey and Bonington.

Oh, and it's got the Talisker Distillery at Carbost and the Three Chimneys restaurant at Dunvegan (if someone else is paying).

Doubtless it would get HVS 3a in the Peak!

Pics of Skye are awesome. I was on Skye last month and did Grey Panther at Kilt Rock - absolutely superb route...grand setting, great moves, sustained climbing. Keen to do more like that over the next year or so....

Great. Sticking Skye on my wish list for next year then!

Whilst we are on - I know 'where' it is but 'what' it is - anyone any idea what the route might be? And no clues to be given!

I am 95% convinced I know the route, but as it was 30+ years ago since I did it, I'm not going to suggest what it is.

Well you are certainly from the right part of the world to get it right!

I decided to go and get the guide out - no it isn't either of those - which crag would that be anyway?

Since you have a guidebook handy, is it about Kneepad/Marshall's Wall?
 Rick Sewards 08 Nov 2007
In reply to Chris Craggs:

Chris

The mystery route looks like Lady Jane to me (though it's about 10 years since I've been there).

Yeah, Lady Jane was my first thought, but the AE ridge in the background looks wrong somehow. Maybe because it's sunny.

I thought it was higher up the hill, but you might be correct, that or a 'Thing of Beauty'?

I think we have a winner - well done, I knew roughly where it was but didn't actually recognise the route. Checking my guide I see I lead in the past - where does the time go indeed!

Doh, I was a bit slow for the prize there. I always wanted to do that route but I didn't get around to it. It looks good.
 El Greyo 08 Nov 2007
Chris, if you are motivated and lucky, time goes doing all those things shown in your photos. Which is no bad thing at all.
