Does anyone use lithium batteries in the petzl tikka XP?
I know you're not supposed to but I could do with using some for a trip I'm going on as they last longer and work in colder temps.

Yep, I use lithiums in my Tikka XP all the time and have never had any problems. I have done this for two years now on a regular basis, even in summer, and have noticed no decrease in performance in the torch. The batteries last absolutely forever--sometimes as much as 150 hours continuous use! They are also unaffected by cold.

with a link for a site that gives information on a whole array of headtorches and batteries.

Petzl advise no, but they are very cautious about many things. Use at your own risk and don't expect any sympathy from Petzl/Lyon if it stops working.

In reply to roblo: The control circuit has not been designed to cope with the high drain from a lithium whereas Black Diamond and quite a few other manufacturers have designed for this.
Fenix torches are worth a look at, not head torches, but the size of a Marlite AA, takes AA, and has the same power when on turbo as the big torches we use on searches in MR.

In reply to Richard Carter: Good rechargeables like the Uniross Hybrio also perform well in cold weather and are much cheaper if you use your torch a lot.
