NEWS: Huge New Bouldering Wall for Newcastle

Dedicated bouldering centre Climb Newcastle will be unveiled this Thursday 23rd October in Byker, just outside of Newcastle City Centre. The quarter of a million pound development is the vision of former British Champion and World Cup winner Andy Earl, and well known climbers in the regional and national scene, Chris Graham and Darren Stevenson.

If the pool was 25m then the main area will be 6 x 25m @ near 5m high so roughly 750 square metres of bouldering surface, plus two other rooms/floors.

The excellent colour coded problems and circuits make a great contrast to the existing wall in Eldon Leisure.

The wall is really good with lots to go at, right across the grade ranges.

I was there last night and ended up staying for well over 3 hours. I'm loving the circuit style of grading the problems & routes. There seems to be plenty of space for more routes too. (maybe some traverses, please?)
