In reply to UKC Gear: It is a bit more complex now they make lots of different types and weights of Guide pants, but I could add that I bought what was at the time "the Guide Pant" in 2002. I still use them regularly now, despite them getting almost weekly through the winter ice climbing and on summer mountaineering and mountain rock trips since. I found mine half price, but they would have been good value at full price.

In reply to TobyA: I've got some old Guide Pants too, but they're not as old as yours. Are they still water resistant? I like mine for cold winter trips but not summer activities.

I'm sure any DWR has long since washed out, so not really but that material never seems to get bothered by drizzly of soggy snow conditions. Not being in the UK I rarely go out in real rain these days!
