Factor 2 fall

Hi all

I am currently reading some SPA literature and wish to check my understanding of fall factor as a measure of forces exerted on a climbing rope.

If i am seconding a multipitch climb, take the gear off my partner, pass the belay onto the lead and continue without placing a runner, irrespective of whether I have climbed 1m, 10m or 100 will the resulting fall will always be a factor 2 fall if no runner is placed?

Also how does this apply to half ropes, doubles etc???

Yes as the distance they fall is twice the length of rope out.
on Half ropes I believe this is also true but as you have two strands of rope they both share the fall factor therefore can be thinner.
